Goodnight Aura

Video Prototyping

DESIGN

The premise for the story in this video prototype is very simple. This video portrays a restless person, who needs to get up early in the morning, because life happens like that. In the video, the user is restless in bed. Their first attempt to thwart restlessness looks to a wives tale for example, as the user tries to drink warm liquid from a mug (whether it is tea, or warm milk is up the viewers discretion). After their sleepy time drink, they once again toss and turn in bed. Finally, they think of AURA, the meditation app that helps users sleep. Once the user logs their restlessness, AURA plays them a reflection audio tape, and the video fades to black as the user goes to sleep.

ANALYSIS

I really enjoyed the general flow of my prototype video. I know that it’s remarkably cliché story about being restless and then using an app that helps with restlessness, but just because it’s cliché doesn’t mean it’s not worth doing. The biggest thing that I would change about my video is the angles of the shots and the set in which the girl is restless. I spent a lot of time positioning the bedroom that I was in to be more attractive, but there’s only so much you can do. I am most proud of the last sequence in the video, where the user open Aura, and is finally able to go to sleep. I love the way that the music matches the heart to chest motion when the user starts using the app. As the video ends, the song that I choose also ends in a dreamy way. The song I choose seems to fit the video really well, and adds so much dimension to my terrible acting and slightly shoddy camera work.
